PUP stage demonstration - Courtesy of B.C.B

The Leader of the Opposition People's United Party (PUP), Said Musa, who was found guilty of contempt of House last October, was reprimanded by the Speaker of the House, B.Q Pitts during the sitting of the House of Representatives in Belmopan this morning. The PUP in response to the decision exited the meeting and staged a demonstration outside the National Assembly Building. The meeting of the House also saw allegations by the Minister of Home Affairs Hubert Elrington that there was a misappropriation of funds in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Said Musa among other issues.

Traffic accident claims one - Courtesy of B.C.B

A man from the Cayo District was knocked down and killed yesterday evening on the Northern Highway. Police say the accident happened near JMA Motors at Mile 2 1/2 and claimed the life of 63 year old Bonifacio Jimenez, a supervisor of Succotz Village. Jimenez was apparently crossing the road when he was struck. The driver of the station wagon was 19-year-old marlon Anthony Smith, who told police that he was driving towards Belize City when the incident happened.

Man detained for boat theft - Courtesy of B.C.B

Police have detained a man in connection with a boat theft yesterday in Dangriga. Winsworth Williams is accused of stealing the "Sea King". The boat's owner, 20 year old Clarus Saba, a fisherman of Rivas Estate, Dangriga, told police that between 11pm Wednesday night and 7:30am yesterday morning, the boat with its 15 horse power Yamaha Engine II was stolen from the north end of the Main Bridge in Dangriga. The vessel and its engine are valued at $12,500 dollars.
